Job Description:

The Sr. Business Development Manager, Accountants Segment role at Sage is an exciting opportunity for senior professionals with advanced experience developing commercial businesses through partner relationships with accounting practices. This dynamic role is an opportunity to work with leading accounting practices and position Sage for Accountants and the Sage Managed Services Partner program to enable practices to create a Finance as a Service offering. The successful candidate will be able to position the best-in-class mid-market financial accounting solution, Sage Intacct, to leading accounting practices. Leveraging Sage Intacct, the candidate will help top accounting practices build or expand their Finance as a Service by scaling their clients outgrowing their existing accounting solutions. This strategic quota-carrying role will focus on upstream practices and leading with Sage Intacct.

The successful candidate will coordinate and manage the journey of accounting practices through all aspects of their deals with Sage. We want to provide these practices with a white-glove experience to ensure they enjoy the best experience, realize quantifiable value and are positioned to scale with Sage. This role will drive strategic growth with new business creation, product penetration, and execution of a well-thought strategy to scale the Sage Managed Services Practice program. The right candidate will have an entrepreneurial mindset and genuine passion for working with accounting practices and developing lasting relationships while helping them realize the value of cloud technology, which aligns with their goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

• Lead ownership of top accounts; large accounting practices with complex matrixed organizations require experience navigating and growing.

• Conduct detailed business discoveries to understand the inner workings of practice, connect the dots, and tell a story of how Sage for Accountants and the Sage Managed Services Partner program will add bespoke value to individual practices.

• Build out business plans for accounting practices that you recruit or who already work with Sage and execute the strategy to help these practices implement and scale with Sage for their clients.

• Uncover focus areas between market fit solutions and accounting practices that serve specific verticals.

• Become an expert at demonstrating multiple Sage products that align with the benefits accounting practices expect to realize.

• Drive scale across your book of practices and build up a highly qualified pipeline of opportunities you will manage.

• Conduct product or thought leadership webinars and new content pieces (i.e., blogs or how-to guides) and take an out-of-box approach to developing a personal brand for yourself to be a trusted advisor for accounting and bookkeeping practices.

• Being extremely disciplined with organization and execution, from how you interact and respond to practices to project managing implementations to maintain documentation of processes, activities in Salesforce, and more.

Skills, know-how, and experience:

• 12+ years of experience helping businesses improve efficiencies with technology.

• 12+ years of experience recruiting and growing a channel business.

• Established network of contacts in leading accounting practices in Canada.

• Steady track record of achieving commercial growth goals in previous roles.

• Intrapreneurial mindset to figure things out and be solution-focused.

• Undergraduate in Business or Accounting (CPA designation or MBA preferred).

• Display a strong understanding of full-cycle accounting.

• Passion for the accounting space, fintech, and cloud technology.

• Proven track record of high performance through ownership and resourcefulness.

• Quick to build rapport, and you realize energy from genuinely helping businesses, meeting people, and curiosity to learn and then add value.

• Outstanding communication and presentation skills and a genuine enthusiasm for building lasting relationships.

• Ability to travel up to 20%.
